SNMP Device Inventory

Overview

The SNMP Device Inventory page provides a comprehensive view of hardware and software information collected from all your SNMP-monitored network devices.

Information Collected:

• Device Identification: Names, IP addresses, MAC addresses
• Hardware Details: Model numbers, serial numbers, vendor information
• Software Information: Operating system versions and firmware
• Network Topology: Connected device relationships from LLDP/CDP

Understanding Statistics

Four statistics cards at the top provide a quick overview of your inventory status:

• Total Devices: Total number of network devices being monitored via SNMP
• With Inventory: Devices that have returned model and/or serial number information
• Missing Data: Devices without model or serial number data
• Vendors: Count of unique device manufacturers in your network

Inventory Table

The main inventory table displays detailed information for each device:

Type	Device type icon (Switch, Router, Firewall, etc.)
Device	Device hostname or friendly name
IP Address	Management IP address
MAC Address	Device MAC address
Vendor	Manufacturer (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.)
Model	Hardware model number
Serial Number	Device serial number for asset tracking
OS Version	Operating system or firmware version
Connected To	Upstream device and port from LLDP/CDP
Last Updated	Time since last inventory poll

Sorting: Click on any column header to sort the table. Click again to toggle ascending/descending order.

Device Type Icons

Each device is classified with an icon based on its model and SNMP information:

• Switch - Layer 2/3 switches (Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Arista, etc.)
• Router - Routers (Cisco ISR, ASR, Juniper MX, etc.)
• Firewall - Firewalls (Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
• WLC - Wireless LAN Controllers
• Access Point - Wireless access points
• IP Phone - VoIP phones
• Server - Servers with SNMP enabled
• UPS - Uninterruptible Power Supplies
• Unknown - Type could not be determined

Searching & Filtering

Use the search and filter controls to quickly find specific devices:

Search Box:

• Search across device names, IP addresses, MAC addresses
• Search by model numbers, serial numbers, OS versions
• Search connected device information

Vendor Filter:

• Use the vendor dropdown to show only devices from a specific manufacturer
• The dropdown is populated automatically based on vendors in your inventory

Polling Inventory

The Poll All Inventory button triggers an SNMP poll to refresh inventory data from all devices.

How to Poll:

• Step 1: Click Poll All Inventory button
• Step 2: A dialog reminds you SNMP must be configured - click Continue
• Step 3: The button shows "Polling..." while in progress
• Step 4: Page auto-refreshes every 10 seconds to show new data

Exporting to CSV

Export your device inventory to a CSV file for reporting, asset management, or integration with other systems.

How to Export:

• Click the Export CSV button
• File downloads as device_inventory_YYYY-MM-DD.csv

Exported Data Includes:

• Type, Device Name, IP Address, MAC Address
• Vendor, Model, Serial Number, OS Version
• Connected To, Last Updated

The export includes ALL inventory data, not just the current filtered view. Use the CSV in Excel or asset management systems.

Best Practices

• Regular Polling: Poll inventory weekly to keep data current, especially after device replacements
• Asset Tracking: Use serial numbers for asset management and warranty tracking
• Missing Data: Investigate devices with missing data - may indicate SNMP configuration issues
• Version Compliance: Review OS Version data to identify devices needing firmware updates
• Topology Verification: Use "Connected To" column to verify network topology
• Vendor Analysis: Filter by vendor for equipment audits or support contract renewals
